But for the price, the GT-190 gets the job done. It does not tilt from left to right at all, the way a Cintiq tilt stand does. I find that the adjustable stand that comes with the Huion is insufficient, since it only adjusts up and down on the horizontal. I thought that it might feel too heavy to work with, since the pen has a rechargeable battery in it, but it was fine. The (calibrated) pen is responsive and easy to handle. It took me hours to just get the Huion working, and I wasn't even in a drawing application yet! I am happy to say that the GT-190 works great with both Corel Painter 2017 and with Photoshop CC. I disconnected the tablet and rebooted, reconnected the tablet to the Mac, and did the calibration again, and finally, finally was successful. Finally found it, executed the calibration, and.it still wasn't calibrated. On the Huion, I couldn't figure out where the pen calibration tool was even located. On a Cintiq, calibration is pretty straightforward. The next frustrating thing was calibrating the pen. I did this, the tablet came up - I had to close the cover on the Macbook in order to get the switchover to the Huion screen at that point - and I was almost in business.
Finally, I found a comment on a random website that suggested disconnecting the tablet from the Mac, rebooting the Mac, and then connecting the powered-on tablet to the Mac once it had rebooted. But I kept getting a "check cable connection" display error, which was very frustrating because everything was connected correctly. First I loaded the latest driver, downloaded from the Huion website. This would not normally be a big deal, but getting the drawing tablet to work with my Mac was a real pain.
To get it to work with my Macbook, I had to use an adapter. The GT-190 is not HDMI compatible, rather, it comes with at VGA cable. I'd been wanting the GT-191 for some time, and got caught up in the moment without really looking at what was different between the GT-190 and GT-191. I bought this drawing tablet (GT-190) on impulse when it was offered as a "lightening deal" on Prime day.
Resolution is good.Īll in all, very pleased with install and initial quality.Īs stated before, if there are durability issues, will come back and update. We've attached it to the CPU with an HDMI-to-DVI cable.
But at normal usage angles, it's not a factor.īoth pens arrived with full charge and were usable out of the box. The included screen protector does, as others have said, give an 'oil slick/spectrum' effect when viewed at a strong angle.
We do have a little tool to set up color correction, and will use it, but even out of the box colors seem to render pretty accurately. Depending on the 'brush' used, it's quite easy to do everything from the slightest near-imperceptible touch up to a thick strong 'full pressure'.Ĭolor seems reasonably accurate. There is very adequate resolution from low to high pressure. We can't comment on whether it really has "3,000+" levels of sensitivity, but pressure sensitivity seems good. Others have complained about the pen's pressure sensitivity. When viewed at normal use angles, it's fine. There is a slight offset of pen-tip to point of contact if viewed from 30+ degree angle, but that's due to the screen thickness itself.
Installation of the drivers went smoothly, and this monitor was hooked up to the computer (reasonably powerful Windows 10 machine) smoothly and without a problem. Most of the issues raised in prior negative review proved unfounded. But within the internal box, it was nicely padded and safe, so the poor packaging didn't damage it. Since it was "Fulfilled by Amazon" I put that here versus the seller review. It was poorly packed in an over-large box with insufficient padding. This review is mostly based on his feedback after about 12 hours of use (he was excited to get it and has done little else since). So he's no 'amateur' but not a 'pro' either. This was purchased for a 16 year old who is in his 2nd year of high school in a sci-tech school studying graphic arts. This is the initial review, I'll come back and add to it over time regarding durability, etc.
